PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED REDWARE PITCHER. From a Montgomery County family and possibly made by John Nase (ca. 1829 - 1850, son of Johannes Nessz, maker of slip decorated pottery at Spinner pottery, Willow Creek, Pennsylvania). Three-color slip decoration in ivory, light tan and olive on a dark brown glaze. Overall scene of a hunter wearing a cap and tail coat, shooting a running deer. Both are surrounded by leafy underbrush that hides a dog and bird. "1842" is under the handle. Minor flakes to the slip decoration and around the rim. 7 1/2"h.
