Centered in lower margin: “61-1506.” In margin at lower left: “61/262.” At outer edge of border: 37 ¾” x 24 7/8”. Within frame: 40 7/8” x 26 ½”. Some creasing. Minor dampstaining to margin. Framed under glass. Not examined out of frame. Loosely based on a novel by Truman Capote, the movie focuses on the romance between Holly Golighty (Audrey Hepburn), a commoner turned socialite who is saving up money to support her brother when he gets out of the Army; and Paul Varjack (George Peppard), a writer who hasn’t had anything published in five years because of working on his novel “Nine Lives.” The poster was designed by Neal McGinnis (a renowned poster artist who also designed over 1200 paperback covers). Holly occupies the left half of the poster’s image. Actors named below image include Peppard, Patricia Neal [who played Paul’s decorator, Eustace Failenson]; Buddy Ebsen (who played Holly’s Husband, Doc Golighty); Martin Balsam (who played O. J. Berman, Holly’s Hollywood agent); and Mickey Rooney. Widely considered Hepburn’s most important role.
