1257. LEIGH HUNT (1784-1859) English essayist and poet jailed for his articles criticizing the Prince Regent. Outstanding A.Ms.S. "Leigh Hunt", 1p. tall 4to., [n.p., n.d. but paper watermarked 1855], his most acclaimed poem "Abou Ben Adhem", penned in full in his elegant hand. In small part: "...Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!) Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace, And saw, within the moonlight in his room, Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom, An angel, writing in book of gold..." Mounted to another sheet, slight toning, else very good condition. $200-300
