Here in the great Northwest we have some of the best hunting in the entire universe! We also have more than our fair share of real life mountain men. One such port-a-potty-sized man, recently paid us a visit. He walked in the front door and he said, "My great Grand-Pappy owned a bank. He's dead. You all want to buy these coins?" This mountain man gave me permission to tell his story. He explained that back when Grand-Pappy was alive, he always said, "Buck, when silver hits $50, you go down there and you sell." He wanted some extra cash to purchase some kind of a special all-terrain vehicle outfitted for hunting...he just had to have it! The big hunt could wait no longer. He drove a hard bargain, but we finally agreed to his price because most of these coins in the pile are Almost Uncirculated full AU. Grand-Pappy only had a few tellers all through the late 1940's and 1950's. He would ask them to pull out of their drawers and check for any nicer Walking Liberty Half Dollars. In the many, many years, through the millions and millions of dollars we have bought and sold, this is the nicest, largest collection (horde) of Walking Liberty Half Dollars we have had privilege of offering. For most of my career, silver was about five dollars an ounce. Today (7/6/12), it is about $28. These Walking Liberty Half Dollars have about the same value today as they did ten years ago. Because they are collectible, they have always been worth more than their underlying silver value. Though we have thousands now, we will soon sell out. When the market runs out of these coins in the Almost Uncirculated condition, demand will increase. Silver may likely go to $100 or better someday. At that point these Walking Liberty Half Dollars in choice AU condition should be worth an awful lot of money. Of course, because these coins are collectible, if silver takes a major dump, they will maintain their value, better protecting your equity.
