Beautiful Satsuma urn with lid having 3 hand painted panels including winter scene with Japanese people, another with a hunter, the last with a violent ocean and men on shore. Signed on base (see photos). Height with lid off 12", height with lid 16.5" - Diameter at top is 5", diameter at widest part is 9.5". Late 19th to early 20th century. Provenance: From the estate of John Whiteford, Wassaic NY.
