An undated gilt finger ring in 5th-8th century AD style comprising a flat-section hoop with wreath detailing to the outer face; the bezel a square block with a smaller square above, flanked by two triangular straps with granule finials; on the upper face an expanding-arm cross with five ring-and-dot motifs. From an important collection of Christian artefacts formed in the 1970's and 1980's, the property of a City Gentleman. 10 grams, 29.11 mm, 17.95 internal diameter (approximate size British P, USA 7 3/4, Europe 16.60, Japan 15.5) (1 1/4").
