The medal was founded after the peace of Rawalpindi and issued in two types. First with the year 1337 and after the change from moon- to sun-calendar with the year 1298.

Silber Stegagraffe am neueren Bande.#TA 88f. Ø 33 mm155 g.##Die Medaille war für all jene Offiziere Unteroffiziere und Mannschaften bestimmt die im 3. Anglo-Afghanischen Krieg kämpften. Sie wurden nach dem Frieden von Rawalpindi gestiftet und in zwei Typen verausgabt. Zuerst mit der Jahreszahl 1337 und nach der Änderung vom Mond- zum Sonnenkalender mit der Jahreszahl 1298.
