A NORITAKE ROYAL MORIYE NIPPON PORCELAIN VASE
Japan, 1891-1921
The delicate two-handled pedestal vase having a pale orchid matte ground interspersed with six gold and four aqua reserves hand-painted with purple flowers, between these are five medallions with a green matte ground joined with a band around the middle of the vase; all edged in and embellished with applied lace-like flowers, leaves, borders, and beads (moriage technique using liquified clay slip); with two graceful applied pierced handles and a round foot with four turned-up feet; a blue maker's mark on underside.
