AN ANTIQUE CHINESE IVORY MAHJONG SET

The complete set includes: 148 tiles (including 8 white ones), 4 wind discs inside a mingg (circular lidded container), 2 trays of counters, 2 dice, 4 wooden tile racks, and a book of rules. Each tile made of an incised and painted ivory rectangle mounted to a bamboo base. The book published in 1923 in Shanghai is by J.P. Babcock, “Babcock's Rules for Mah-Jongg: The Red Book of Rules,” 2nd edition. All but the racks stored in a cardboard box (now falling apart).
