"The descriptions of many of the fruits are taken from an earlier work (Bivort, Album de pomologie), but the greater number are original... This work had a great success and remains the classical work of reference, with Bivort's Album for varieties of Belgian fruit" (Bunyard, Lit. of Pomology, zitiert nach de Belder). "According to E. A. Bunyard in his Guide to the Literature of Pomology, Alexandre Bivort's Album de Pomologie, published in monthly parts over four years, is of great value as it c ontains coloured plates and accurate descriptions of many of Van M ons' seedlings, and it forms a wonderful record of the great number of new fruits which were at this time being raised in Belgium ... Not many complete sets of the Album seem to have survived" (Sandra Raphael in: Oak Spring Pomona S. 141-143).
