(Ahmad 'Aziz ibn Ahmad, calligrapher, student of Al Zuhdi) Qur'an, manuscript, c.600pp., copied in accomplished naskh script, opening leaves fully and very finely illuminated in polychrome and gold, the rest in black and red ink highlighted in gold and within gold border, occasional polychrome and gold decoration in margin, light soiling and staining, a few marginal defects (some repaired), contemporary morocco stamped with trellis design in gilt, a little worn, especially spine, 8vo, [Istanbul], "copied by the needy most humble of scribes, the one who has committed the Qur'an to memory [hafiz] al-Hajj Ahmad 'Aziz ibn Ahmad, a pupil of Zuhdi, the calligrapher of the August Palace [al-Saray al'Amirah] may God forgive their sins...", AH 1257 [1841-42].
