Verney Shoot F Carter Gamekeeper : a superb mid 19 thC Anglo Indian Howdah percussion pistol by Joseph Lang. With a pair of 4" damascus twist barrels, rose and scroll engraving to locks, trigger guard, butt and tang, with safety to the dolphin hammers, captive ramrod under, engraving to the sprung trap, with crisp checkering to stock, signed to locks and top rib.Provenance : understood to have been given to 'Carter' by R Verney. John. Carter was the Game keeper for the Verney Estate , Claydon House, Middle Claydon, Bucks between 1912 -1939. This auction has a number of items including game books from the very successful and well thought of keeper
