BANCROFT WOODCOCK COIN SILVER WASTE BOWL

Sign In to see what this sold for

Coin silver waste bowl made by Bancroft Woodcock (1732 - 1817), Wilmington, Delaware. The bowl has beaded borders on a square base and measures 6" across and 4 1/4" tall. The base is 3 1/4" square, and on the outside of the base the cartouche "B. Woodcock 1792". There are initials "J.R.N." engraved on the bowl. It is possible the initials stand for Joseph and Nathaniel Richardson of Philadelphia, who Woodcock worked with. This is an important museum quality example of early American coin silver. Shown at the Historical Society of Delaware Exhibition 1976. 11 troy oz.
