DAVID SPEARS, KENTUCKY COIN SILVER SPOON

Kentucky coin silver spoon by David Huston Spears. The mark or cartouche D. H. Spears is illustrated in Kentucky Silversmiths by Boultinghouse on page 30 (#153). More history on Spears is on pages 257 and 258 of Kentucky Silversmiths. Spears started silversmithing in ca. 1815 in Carpenter's Station and moved to Springfield, Kentucky in 1820, where he stayed until his death in 1876. The spoon is 5 5/16" long and has no monogram. Clear and legible cartouche. A rare Kentucky spoon! .45 troy oz.
