(American 1854-1945) Providence, Rhode Island, of cattle at creek in woods, 25" x 30" oil on canvas. Signed lower right. George Arthur Hays was a self taught artist who is widely known for his oils of cattle in a landscape. He was a member of both the Providence Art Club and the Providence Watercolor Club as well as the Copley Society of Boston in 1892. From 1888 - 1940 he exhibited frequently at the Providence Art Club and at the Society of Independent Artists from 1917 - 1918. A great painting. Fine condition.
