PIERCED SHEET IRON AND BLOWN MOLDED WHALE OIL LANTERN, japanned finish, bail handle, pierced dots to top and base, slightly tapered fixed cased ruby/red globe with lightly embossed rectangular slug plate, removable sheet iron holder fitted with a glass font and bayonet mechanism, No. 1 brass collar. Fitted with a brass and tin double-tube burner. Third quarter 19th century. 17 1/4" HOA, 12 1/4" H to top cap, 5 1/2" D base.

Very good condition, moderate losses to japanned finish resulting in light to moderate rust, globe with some minute wear and a minor flake, bayonet mechanism pins and font holder with small repairs, font and burner undamaged.
