Egypt, Saite Period, Dynasty XXVI, 664 - 525 BC. Large faience amulet of a seated Sekhmet, aqua-blue and black composition of openwork design, the lioness goddess holding a sistrum, seated on a throne, its sides decorated with stylized serpents, a suspension loop behind the ears. Custom mounted on marble. Amulet itself measures 2-1/2"H (5.1 cm.)
