Hupfeld Phonoliszt Violina Model B. The Phonoiszt Violina was first presented at the Leipzig trade fair in 1908 and was the sensation and for the company an instant commercial success. For the first time the inventors achieved, to reproduce mechanically the sound of a violin with all the fine details. Hupfeld designed three types of cases in those years, whereby the Mode B was and remains the most popular. The price for a Phonoliszt Violano at the time was more than the cost for a house. Never the less at the right location the investment paid back within 2 years and was therefore a big commercial success for all the parties involved. Hupfeld Phonoliszt Violina Model B. Die Phonoliszt Violina wurde erstmals vorgestellt an der Leipziger Messe in 1908 und war die Sensation und für die Firma Hupfeld über Nacht ein kommerzieller Erfolg. Erstmals war es gelungen, das Spiel der Geige mechanisch mit all ihrer Feinheiten wiederzugeben. Staccato, legato, glissando, vibrato, tremolo etc. werden durch eine komplizierte Technik, die die Geschwindigkeit des Bogens, das Andrücken der Geigen an den Bogen und Simulation der Finger steuert, in so einer Perfektion wiedergegeben, wie es bislang nur von Menschenhand zu hören war. Revolutionär war die Erfindung, den Geigenbogen durch ein in verschiedenen Geschwindigkeiten und Abbremsungen rotierendes Rad, das mit 1336 Pferdehaare octagonal bespannt wurde, zu ersetzen. Jede der 3 Geigen spielt nur eine Saite, nämlich D, A und E während das Klavier die fein nuancierte Begleitung und Melodie wiedergibt. Der damalige grosse Erfolg dieses Instrumentes ist unter anderem dem Musikerstreik im Jahre 1912 in Amerika zu verdanken, der dazu beitrug, dass das Phonoliszt Violina die Live-Orchester in den Theatern ersetzte, hunderte von Musikern auf die Strasse setzte und damals für enorme Publizität in den Zeitungen sorgte. Trotz hoher Stückzahl (vermutlich mehr als 10'000), haben nur etwa 85 Stück bis heute überlebt und sind der Stolz eines jeden Sammlers. Zwischen 1908 und 1928 wurden 3 verschiedene Modelle produziert, wobei das Modell B bis heute das populärste darstellt. Der Preis für ein Phonoliszt Violina war damals höher als der eines Einfamilienhauses. Am richtigen Ort platziert, hatte es sich jedoch in 2 Jahren amortisiert und war für alle Parteien ein wirtschaftlicher Erfolg. In den letzten 20 Jahren wurde das Instrument von 3 unabhängigen Gruppen in einer Gesamtstückzahl ca. 24 Instrumenten nachgebaut. Die Wendel Geige ist die einzige, die wie das Original, auch die Standard Phonosiszt Rollen spielen kann. Nur mit riesigem finanziellem und zeitlichem Aufwand ist es ihnen trotz technischem Fortschritt geglückt, 80 Jahre später die gleichen Resultate zu erreichen. Mit 50 Rollen.
