Inscribed ‘S.S. Blythville of West Hartlepool W.C. Bacon Commander 1880’

24 x 36in. (61 x 91.5cm.)
This cargo ship of 1,390 tons was built and run by W. Gray of West Hartlepool, launched 28th July 1877. She was wrecked near Rhinns off Islay on 3rd June 1898.
The artist of this painting has been identified as Eduoard Adam of Le Havre (1847-1910)
