Chinese Gilt Lacquer Sewing Box
China, ca 1840. A gilt lacquer sewing box of rectangular form with hinged lid, having brass handles and raised on four carved paw feet. The hinge top opens to reveal an interior fitted with a compartmented tray containing several ivory, bone, and mother-of-pearl sewing implements, as well as a lower compartmented drawer; ht. 6.25, wd. 14, dp. 10 in.
Wear, losses, and some staining to lacquer. One hinge is broken. Both front feet are chipped.
