Description

RENAISSANCE REVIVAL STYLE LIBRARY TABLE
19th Century
Solid oak; the ornate ""H"" form base featuring carved sea serpants on the cross bar feet with a connecting carved stretcher. Each upright support in the form of double turned and carved bulbous urns with spools above and below. Each of the four canted corners of the apron features a carved lions mask with olive and fruit foliage, and a large finial suspended from each. The long sides with reticulated and incised carved trims, with flanking scroll carved foliate brackets. The short sides haveing a large suspended finial at center and is designed to give the effect of a large crenolated band of decoration. The apron, with full width concealed lap drawer, is carved with a guioche pattern overlaid with large acanthus leaves at center.
