Description
By Kimura Ryumin 1st, Tokyo, Mid 19th century. , Mid 19th century. A large and boldly-incised manju of a tiger amid pine trees and rocks. Signed, Ryumin, with kakihan, the whole filled with red ink. As described in the MCI, the kakihan is very similar to that used by Ryukei and Ryuraku. An almost identical piece was sold as lot 99 of the Christie's sale of 11/16/1976 but signed Ryusei who is apparently unrecorded. 2in (5.2cm). Provenance: Sotheby's, London, July 30, 1968; Lot 392.
