Description
By Naoyuki. Tokyo, Mid 19th century. Dancer with a moveable head. His left arm holds a fan behind his back, while the right holds the Shinto bells. Both hands are well hidden within the folds of his robe which is engraved on the back panel with pine branches, a crane taking flight, and geometric patterns. These patterns, as well as the horizontal bands on the dancer's elongated hat are nicely colored with black ink. Signed on the underside, Naoyuki. 2 3/4in (6.9cm).
