Egypt, 1984
In 1984 Storrier set out on his journey through Egypt, with the intention of regenerating his artistic horizons. He began formulating ideas which then translated into enduring images such as this one which conjures up the majesty of antiquity and all the elegance of kingdoms past. Ashley Crawford, as quoted in the book Tim Storrier, Moments, commented: “the foot is another image Storrier uses to signify the traveler – the giant foot was drawn from the Egyptian monuments of Rameses at Abu Simbel.” 2
Edmund Capon a staunch supporter of Storrier’s work, when Director of the New South Wales Art Gallery reflected:
“ … that alongside the deep skies and low horizons of the Australian landscape Storrier addresses the broader world of antiquity with its myths and legends, romances, tragedies and epics – and always with a sense of beauty and meticulous crafting.” 3
