Lot 915: AFRICAN SETIEN CALAO BIRD SENUFO TRIBE IVORY COAST - This huge "Setien" calao bird, carved in one piece of wood, represents the fertility and the prosperity of the village .It is the God protector of the Senufo tribe. It was placed at the entry of the village to welcome travelers and to repel bad spirits and diseases from the village. Wood: Kapok -Height 71"- width 28" by 24". 2nd part of the 20th century.
