Description
4th-3rd century BC. A bronze fibula formed from a single twisted wire, with two springs, double loop, coil and hooked catch. 4.49 grams, 50 mm (2"). See Hattatt, R. Iron Age and Roman Brooches, items 221, 224. Private collection, Nottinghamshire, UK; acquired late 1980s-early 1990s. Fibulae formed with a single length of wire and the spring formed from compound coils are a feature of the La Tene I series.[No Reserve]
