Description
LOW RESERVE: In 1986 Keith Haring was commissioned to produce a mural commemorating the 100-year anniversary of America receiving the Statue of Liberty from France. This Screenprint is a smaller version of the 90x30 feet banner which features Lady Liberty standing proudly in front of faceless figures jumping for joy. The banner was painted in conjunction with the CityKids foundation and over 1,000 young people from across the city were invited to draw their interpretations of what liberty meant to them onto the banner. The screen print is Numbered “AP 1 of 25” which is aside from the ordinary edition of 100, also signed and dated, all on the lower the right border. Published by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York, with their distinct blindstamp on the far left side in the border. Provenance as follows: Pace Gallery New York: Private Owner New York: Private Owner Barcelona: Private Owner RomeFeatured in Catalogue Raisonne: KEITH HARING, Editions on Paper 1982-1990, Klaus Littmann, pg. 63
