Description
I Will Not Make Any More Boring Art, 1971 is a Lithograph on wove paper. It is Signed; numbered 1 out of 50 and dated far recto right side. In 1971, Baldessari was asked by the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Canada to create an on-site installation but they had no money to fly him up. Since he couldn’t make the trip, he suggested that the students write the phrase “I will not make any more boring art” on the gallery walls. Baldessari's rote, repetitive exercise is at odds with the content of the statement —to not make any more “boring” art. Provenance as follows: Private Collector, New York. Previously sold for $52,000usd.
Condition
All Lithographic inks are still very bright, vivid, bold. No scuff marks, bending, rips or repair work. Paper is in a pristine condition. No smudging on the pencil signature, which is completely fluid & in soft pencil.
