†Sarah Ferguson replica cream silk dress with embroidered bodice, sleeves and train made by Lindka Cierach together with replica tiara, veil and bouquet, 1981
A champagne coloured duchesse satin dress embroidered with seed pearls, bugle beads and sequins. The dress has a scooped neckline edged with seed pearls and elbow length sleeves. The bodice is embroidered with a central design of thistle and bees and the same design embellishes the sleeves. The bee and thistle formed part of the coat of arms of the new Duchess of York. Sarah Ferguson felt that she was an energetic "busy bee" and loved the symbolism of her wedding dress. A large satin bow with a small train is attached to the back of the dress at the waist, and a long duchesse satin train is also embroidered with seed pearls and bugle beads. The "busy bee" motif is joined on the train by anchors and helicopters to symbolise Prince Andrew's career as a naval pilot together with a large A embroidered at the base. The Designer Lindka Cierach dreamt the design after many weeks of agonising over making a dress for a Royal Bride! The accompanying tiara is a replica of the one leant to Sarah Ferguson from the Royal Collection made by Cyril Wakefield. Madame Tussauds had exclusive access to the tiara before the wedding day and had to keep all these details secret from the press who were desperate to discover what Sarah Ferguson would wear on on 24th July 1981 at Westminster Abbey. Lindka Cierach delivered the dress to Madame Tussauds immediately following the wedding reception. This dress was worn by Sarah Ferguson during fittings for her 'first' dress. As was the case with Princess Diana, this gown would have been worn should an 'accident' have happened to the 'first' dress. The lot also includes the corresponding silk net veil covered with sequins, the edge embroidered with hearts and appliqué cream bows. Lindka Cierach's designs influenced brides for the next ten years - many walked down the aisle with embroidered emblems of their new husband's favourite football team to accompany his initials! The kitten heel shoes which accompany the dress are of cream duchesse satin by Manolo Blahnik. A replica bouquet completes the lot.

Cyril Wakefield worked for several years for Royal Couturier Norman Hartnell making many pieces for his couture collection.
