SOUTHERN PLAINS BABY CRADLEBOARD, DOLL SIZE. Fine graphic cradleboard attributed to the Kiowa. Lattice back has morning star design in brass buttons. Baby wrap has graphic design typical of Kiowa with deep blue background on one side and white on other. Lining of gold check homespun. Bottom fringe is folded into inside of baby carrier. A perfect miniature rendition. This cradleboard and the accompanying leg moccasins (lot 460) were given to thank a family for its assistance during the illness and death of the maker's daughter. Girls from both families were friends and the recipient was a companion to the other girl during her long illness. 27" long.
