Description
"Beine". 1927/28. Original glass negative and 1 vintage gelatin silver print and 4 modern prints made from the original negative as well as original negative sleeve. 22 x 15,5 cm and 23,7 x 18 cm. Mimosa sample print with number 240 stamped in upper left corner, Mimosa and Velotyp-Raster Nr. 13 printed in margin below the image.Yva was one of Germany's most successful fashion and commercial photographers. She founded her studio in Berlin in 1925 and in 1926 collaborated with Heinz Hajek-Halke. Her work was publsihed in the fashionable magazines of the day such as Die Dame, Uhu, Elegante Welt and Berliner Illustrierte and her work was also included in the Film und Foto exhibit in Stuttgart in 1929. This image of legs is one of Yva's most famous and was probably used for a stocking ad. It also served as a test print in a sample book for Mimosa photo paper. The glass negative and sample print were miraculously saved from destruction in 1992. - Mimosa sample print with chemical spots; glass negative with cracks, emulsion layer, however, still intact.
