THIRTY ENGLISH CHALKWARE CAMEO MEDALLIONS. Chalk imitations of classical cameo gemstones from museums. These were collected in the 18th and early 19th Centuries by wealthy visitors to museums. Sometimes called "Tassies" after James Tassie (b. 1735, Scotland) who invented a paste for making imitation cameos. Three are framed. 8 3/4" x 4 1/4".
