CURT FISCHER "Midgard" lamp, model no. 113A, ca. 1925-1930 Manufactured by Industriewerk Auma Ronneberger & Fischer, Auma in Thüringen und W. Goy & Co., Frankfurt am Main, Germany; enameled and nickel-plated tubular steel, Bakelite, fittings stamped with manufacturer's mark and number 35 ⅜ in. (90 cm) max. height Literature W. Lotz, Licht und Beleuchtung, Bücher der Form V.6, Berlin, 1928, p. 28; W. Gräff, Jetzt wird ihre Wohnung eingerichtet, Potsdam, 1933, pl. 214; Klaus Weber, Die Metallwerkstatt am Bauhaus, exh. cat., Bauhaus-Archiv Museum für Gestaltung, Berlin, 1992, p. 101, ill. 129 The Midgard lamp has the advantage of being extremely practical as it can be adjusted in several different ways. In the 1920s the Bauhaus used it in their workshops as they considered it useful and convenient lighting. Marianne Brandt, comparing Curt Fischer's light with the general Bauhaus model, said: "even if our lights are adjustable, they are not as elegant and we envied the creator of the Midgard lamp."
