In his design, Michael Young attempts to put a smile on your face. Through the use of curves and colors, he aims to re-create the humor of a comic book. This was well achieved in his project of the Astro bar, which is a DJ club including four bars and two dance-floors. In his own words, he designed it as a fun house and introduced geothermal environments to give a touch of Iceland's chill. The interior looked smooth and almost slippery with a ground floor done in an ice-cool color. This reinforced the club's surreal atmosphere. As Young described, "It's almost like stepping into the virtual."
