Gilt Bronze Figure of Buddha, Chiang Saen, Thailand, 16th Century sitting on a lotus flower in virasana pose, his hands in bhumisparsha mudra ("touching the Earth"), attired in a robe, his ovoid face with serene expression, arched eyebrows above downcast eyes, elongated earlobes, the hair arranged in rows of tight curls with a flame-like ushnisha.

Provenance: Property of a distinguished collector and scholar of Southeast Asian Art acquired in Southeast Asia in the 1970's. (Lots 55, 56, 57, 58, 59).
