Including A polychrome vessel inscribed ÒHUETARE POLYCHOME (sic.) CHORTEZA COSTA RICAÓ and a vessel, possibly Mayan, inscribed ÒNEAR LAGO ATITLAN / GUATEMALAÓ.
Provenance: From the collection of James Maxime DuPont (1912-1991) of New Jersey

James DuPont (1912-1991) was intensely interested in a wide variety of collecting areas. Egyptian, Asian, Italian, Tribal, Woodlands American and South American artifacts were all of interest to him and were gathered early on in his collecting career. Many of the most important and interesting objects have late-19th or early-20th century inscriptions indicating origin or provenance on labels attached to the pieces, which shows the extent of documentation provided on these very fine collectible objects.
