Description

Pre-Columbian, Phase I Mochica, North Coast Peru, ca 100 BCE – 100 CE. Bi-chrome terracotta figure of a kneeling Warrior / Lord wearing a red brown and cream color striped tunic with triangular inlaid lapiz & turquoise border, front and back; he holds a gold club with lapiz finial in one hand, a shield in the other; elaborate headdress with roundels in cream with red brown dots and chin strap. His face is portrait-like with very realistic features, including inlaid shell eyes with lapiz pupils. 8"H x 5"W.
