STORY/DESCRIPTION: This fascinating set of a uranium glass decanter and three wine glasses is a fine example of 19th-century English glass craftsmanship. The decanter, dating from around 1860, and the glasses, dating from around 1880, are made from uranium glass, giving them a distinctive pale and deep green colour. The decanter features a hollow lens cut ball stopper, slice cut neck, and lens cutting to the body, standing at 35.5cm tall. The wine glasses feature petal cut bowls and waisted slice cut stems. Both the decanter and glasses are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, and no restoration. Please note, uranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for colouration. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight.
