Flown Apollo 11 & ASTP Flags on a Presentation Plaque (22x11.5) A striking wood/metal presentation plaque containing a United States flag (6x4", inscribed underneath "This flag was carried to the Moon aboard the Spacecraft Eagle on the first manned lunar landing mission. July 20, 1969" AND a blue/yellow State flag (6x4", inscribed underneath "This flag was flown on the first international space mission Apollo/Soyuz July 15-24, 1975"). The plaque is inscribed in the center: "Presented to Donald K. "Deke" Slayton / For his role in the development of manned space flight. His contributions both as a member of the astronaut corps and the program management team have been a major factor in the success of our Nation's Space Program". It appears that Christopher Kraft, Junior, Director, Johnson Space Center has hand-signed this piece. Minor refinishing needed. VERY RARE !!! Ex. The Deke Slayton Estate collection.
