Description

A truly outstanding Fabergé miniature chaise lounge possibly made for Maria Feodorovna (Dagmar of Denmark), wife of Czar Alexander III and mother of Czar Nicholas II. Made in Louis XVI style with fluted, tapered legs, scrolled arms with acanthus leaves and flower rosettes. Crest with Laurel leaves and roses. The reverse on the back has Maria's monogram in high relief with crown above. Marked on base with the Fabergé full signature, assay mark 88 St. Petersburg, and work master's initials of I. P. for the famous silver maker Julius Rappaport. Possibly made for V. Dowager, Empress. From a private collection. Size 8.8L x 3.6W x 4.50H
