Fretwork, Remember The Maine, c.1900
A remarkable Spanish-American War tribute comprised of many pieces of scroll cut wood. It is laid out in the form of a U.S. shield flanked by flags and surmounted by a spread winged eagle holding a banner that reads "Remember The Maine". At the center is the U.S. Battleship Maine. All Laid on red and blue velvet fabric. Mounted in an exceptional mahogany frame inlaid with contrasting birch. The frame has medallions along with a crest at the top and the letter "A" in the center. Circa 1900.

Condition: Excellent. Frame shows minor scratches and a few minor chips.
