GlassAmber “Washington & Taylor” Flask, and Original Cast Iron Molds by Clevenger Brothers
c. 1942, Original Cast Iron Glass Mold and Reproduction Amber Washington & Taylor Flask, Lot of 2, Clevenger Brothers, Clayton, NJ, Choice Mint.
This lot includes original cast-iron molds by Clevenger Brothers Glass Works--7” high x 8” x 4”, interlocking heavy metal halves from which reproduction glass flasks of Washington/Taylor can still be made! Cast-iron molds of this quality cost thousands of dollars to produce! This choice mint condition item has original patina, and weighs about 75 pounds. The second item in this lot, an 8” high amber-colored glass flask with profile busts of George Washington with raised lettering: “THE FATHER OF HIS COUNTRY,” and Zachary Taylor: “GEN TAYLOR NEVER SURRENDERS”, was produced in 1942 by the Clevenger Brothers--although “DYOTTVILLE GLASS WORKS PHILADA” is identified by raised lettering around Taylor’s bust. The Clevenger Brothers made reproduction glassware from the 1930s to the 1950s, and still produces limited edition and personalized bottles up to the present. A beautiful example. (2 items)
