Russian Icon, 19th c., of the Virgin of Kazan, with a silvered metal riza, mounted with fresh water pearls, and rhinestones, H.- 12 1/4 in., W.- 10 1/2 in., D.- 1 3/4 in.
Condition consistent with age. Craquelure throughout the paint surface, especially on the faces. Paper visible under the layer of pearls just outside the virgin's right shoulder. A few rhinestones lacking around the virgin's headdress.
