Athens, Ca. 510 BCE. Terracotta footed cup painted around the underside with a narrative scene on each side with Dionysus and a Satyr walking right, each holding a cornucopia filled with grapes, Sphinxes to each side, painted in added white and red pigments. The tondo shows a single warrior, holding a shield in his right hand as he looks left and is walking/running right - perhaps the Persians were getting a bit to close... 3”H x 9-7/8”D.
