19th Century Jan Baptista Dvorak Violin. Jan Baptista Dvorak (Czech, 1825-1890) apprenticed under Han Kulik, worked in Budapest for J.B. Schweitzer and for Anton Hoffmann in Vienna. Has an old overcoated finish, initials engraved in the sides and top; signed on a paper label "J.B. Dworak, fecit. Pragae, 18??". Upper Bout: 6.25 in. Middle Bout: 4.25 in. Lower bout 7.75 in. Body Length: 14 in. Overall Length: 23.5 in. (top of scroll to bottom of body). In a hard case with an unsigned bow measuring 29.25 in. long. Weight: 4.10 lbs.
