England, c.1820, a folding gold coin balance made by "T. B." in wooden case with five weights; the guinea and half guinea, sovereign and half-sovereign and the 7 shillings piece. The steel beam is marked "T B" for maker T. Beach? (See Crawforth, p. 119.) The five weights and the rest of the weighing apparatus are of copper. For Crawforth's illustration of a five weight folding balance see op. cit., fig. 10, p. 30. Folded length:13 cm, width3.8 cm. Complete and original and in perfect working order. Very rare.
