Margaret Mitchell, the famed author of the Epic Novel, Gone With the Wind, made Atlanta her home. This next section features a wonderful grouping of items once belonging to Mrs. Mitchell, which had been a featured highlight for many years at the Atlanta Museum. Margaret Mitchell's Ottoman. This lot includes a framed 1947 photo of Margaret sitting on this piece of furniture in her home. Margaret Mitchell's Couch and Favorite Chair. A photo is included in this lot and shows Margaret sitting in this chair holding a copy of Gone with the Wind. Also included is an Atlanta Journal Newspaper article featuring the display of the Margaret Mitchell Estate at the Atlanta Museum. John Elliot, the museum's director, is in the photograph sitting on this couch. The chair is 28" x 43" h x 28" and the couch is 29" h x 66" h long. Seven photos from Mitchell's private collection are part of this lot including photos of Mitchell's husband, a photo of Vivian Leigh in full costume and make up for a scene in the movie Gone Wind With the Wind. All the photos are framed and the average size is 12" w x 15". A Bedroom Set from Margaret Mitchell's House. Matching Wooden Headboard and footboard and large wooden Wardrobe with Beveled Mirror. Gorgeous inlayed wooden flowers with mother of pearl drops. Headboard, 60" x 75" x 2.5", the Footboard is 36" x 60" x 2.5". The Wardrobe has inlayed wood for flowers and tulips. 45" x 80" x 20" . All pieces are solid thick wood and are in excellent condition. Group of Ticket Stubs to the Party Following the Premier of Gone With The Wind. These 10 ticket stubs and one whole ticket (claimed to have been Clark Gables) had a face value of $10. Scalpers were said to have been selling these tickets for $200. The entire grouping is framed and measures 9.5" x 12". A Movie Program from Gone With The Wind. The program was sold in theatres around the country for 25¢. Very good condition. Quite collectible. It has standard program information plus beautiful reproductions of handpainted scenes from the movie, including great reproductions of characters in the movie. The program is in full color. This program is signed by Anna Rutherford, the actress who played Careen O'Hara (Scarlett's sister) in the film. The lot also includes various The Volunteer Items once belonging to Mitchell, two Trunks and Camping Set, 90 items from Mitchell's kitchen including glasses, plates, cooking utensils, such as a juice press, tools including a garden trowl, a boy scout axe and a pair of pliers, Three Original Photos of Margaret Mitchell involved in various activities including the preparation of food packages for shipment to war ravaged Europe during the early part of WWII. They are mounted on cardboard which measures, 17.5" x 10.5" h and Books from Mitchell's Private Library. This Margaret Mitchell Estate will be sold as one lot.
