Description
On September 12, 1945, Japanese General Seishiro Itagaki signed a total of eleven surrender documents, one for each of the Allied nations, in the Municipal Hall in Singapore. Signing on behalf of the Allies was Admiral Louis Mountbatten (1900-1979), cousin of Elizabeth II. The piece is presented framed and glazed, and is signed by Mountbatten to the lower right of the document.
