Good content A.L.S. signed in full, 3pp. 4to., Charleston, Jan. 9, 1815 to Mr. Petit de Villers. In part: "...if you could hire such a pettianger [boat]...at a rate not very extravagant, to go to St. Simon's and return Inland to my Island, without my being subject to pay for the Pettianger & hands in case of Capture [by the British], I should be glad you would hire as soon as possible such a one for me... [it] would not carry above 5,000 Cane ...a few more than sufficient to plant two acres...the offer has been made with such delicate feeling & genuine politeness, that I should consider myself as acting fastidiously if I decline it...[please] dispose of a few bales of cotton for my niece...remit the proceeds to her in Charleston..."
