1656. (SAINT PHILIP THE APOSTLE) One of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. An original disciple of St. John the Baptist, brought Nathanael to Christ, confidante of Jesus, he preached in Asia Minor and was martyred. This is a rare early authenticated true relic of one of the original Twelve Apostles, resting on red velvet housed under crystal within a silver metal locket, identified beneath the relic in Latin. Accompanied by authentication document in Latin signed by Cardinal Peolemci and other Vatican officials, 1p. 11" x 9", Rome, Nov. 12, 1725, with embossed Vatican seal affixed, paper over wax. The reverse of the relic has been examined, and the red wax seal of the Cardinal and red threads to seal the relic are intact and in excellent condition.
